10, 20, 30 times a day

What are those things that you catch yourself saying over and over throughout the day, many times a day? Do you know what they are? These things clearly change a bit depending on where you are in your life at the time and what your circumstances are but I know for sure there are so many things that I say on a daily basis over and over again.

Some of these things might be said ten times a day, some twenty and some even thirty times each day.

When I started to jot them down, this was the list that emerged. Fortunately it is a real mixture of things, if you are a parent, some of yours might be similar:

  • “It’s not serious”
  • “Where’s the other one?”
  • “What did you do to your brother/sister?”
  • “I don’t think so!”
  • “Just a second”
  • “Two more minutes”
  • “I’m coming, hold on”
  • “Woweeee”
  • “That’s fantastic!”
  • “Have you had a wee?”
  • “Do you need another wee?”
  • “Are you sure?”
  • “Please put your socks/coat/shoes on”
  • “Quick, quick”
  • “Hurry up”
  • “Where did you hide the …..?”
  • “Please don’t shout at me”
  • I love you
  • “Well done”
  • “Please don’t…..”
  • “Hold my hand, this is a car park!”
  • “Aren’t you clever!”
  • “I’m coming to tickle you!”
  • “What a kind boy/girl you are”
  • “You are scrumptious”
  • “Night, night, I love you”

  1. I think my top three are probably – ‘You don’t need to shout, I’m right here!’, ‘I love you’ and ‘Stop kicking *insert name of child here*!’

  2. ‘Why is Stella crying?’, ‘Have you finished your dinner?’ and ‘Can you put on your clothes/take your clothes off, please.’ are up there, for sure, off the top of my head!
I will think about this more over the next few days and see if I’m right!

  3. Ah that’s a lovely list. Some of the things I say include “Get out of bed!” “Time to get up little one.” , “Do you need a wee?” “night, see you tomorrow, I love you.” There are so many other things too but if I was to list everything it would be an epic comment!

  4. This is an interesting post, I’m definitely going to be paying more attention to what I say tomorrow to see what phrases I use repeatedly. “No squealing” will be right up there – dozens of times a day :/ !

  5. Haha I pretty much say all those things along with.
    Please eat your dinner
    Don’t say that
    And stop fighting please
    Lol

  6. Oh my goodness I love love this. I say ALL these all the time. Added to “you little monster” as my youngest likes to pretend to be a monster so it is slowly becoming her nickname in a funny way. But yes are parents we definitely on sayings on repeat. I adore that photo at the end I hope you have it blown up and on your wall. What a moment to capture all together. Beautiful family! 🙂 Thanks for linking up to Share With Me #sharewithme

  7. Brilliant post!!

I find myself saying most of those things as well as,
    “Wait there!”
    “Hold on a minute”
“Please stop talking over your brother, he was trying to tell me something”
    and…
    “I’m so proud of you!”

They drive us mad but we love them.x
