One-handed wonders

Having a baby will change your life. There is no doubt about it.You will learn a whole new set of skills.Among other things, you will become a master of doing almost everything one handed. You will astound yourself with your new found skills and balance and when you hear others say they can’t do something because they need two hands free you will tut in your head and think about all the things you do one handed:

  • Load and unload the washing machine
  • Load and unload the dishwasher
  • Make a drink
  • Brush your teeth
  • Shower
  • Apply make up
  • Helping older children with homework
  • Read to the children
  • Play with the children
  • Answer the phone
  • Type, email and most computer-related stuff
  • Take photos
  • Vacuum
  • Clean
  • Tidy
  • Put the recycling and bins out
  • Put shopping away
  • Make packed lunches
  • Make dinner
  • Push the children on the swings
  • Put the ironing away
  • Sign for a parcel
  • Help older children change for after school activities
  • There must be more ….

  1. I've mastered the one handed loo trip – it takes skill to pull your trousers up and a kind of hula hoop wiggle!
Great post, you must have one arm bigger than the other by now with all the on handedness you get up to!

  2. Most definitely can agree to this. I think as soon as we become parents we learn how to manage things one handed. Great post. Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme

  3. I learnt this straight away – applying make up one handed is no easy task. On a similar vein, I'm now used to showering with an audience too. Being a mum is so glamorous! 😉 x
