Prevention tips for avoiding bugs

No one likes getting sick, especially when you’ve got a family to take care of. Whether your little ones end up under the weather, or you’re trying to deal with family life while nursing the mother of all headaches, trying to live your life when someone is sick can be a complete and total nightmare.

Of course, that begs the question: how do you deal with it? Well, if you really want the best way to deal with getting sick, the answer is simple: prevent it before it happens.

Of course, that’s not always necessarily going to be that easy, but there are some things that you can do in order to make sure that you and your family stay healthy most of the time.

Stay hydrated

drink more water

One of the most common issues that a lot of people have today is simply that they’re not hydrated enough. This goes for both children and adults.

The problem is that even if we’re all drinking a lot of fluids, we’re drinking the wrong things. Adults will tend to lean towards things like tea and coffee to give them a boost in the mornings, things that can end up being a pretty serious diuretic and resulting in even worse dehydration, and older children may to lean towards fizzy pop and fruity drinks when you aren’t watching, which are packed with sugar.

If you and your family want to stay properly healthy and hydrated, then there really is only one option: good old H2O!

Keeping your environment clean

If the environment that you’re living in isn’t clean and germ-free then staying healthy is going to be much more of a challenge. Luckily, there are plenty of products out there to make sure that your environment is always as safe as possible.

Whether it’s something like an Airsteril unit for infection control or simply keeping all of your surfaces and floors properly clean at all times, making sure that your home is germ-free is going to make life much easier for everyone. Plus, it’s a great way to get the whole family into the habit of cleaning up after themselves!

Get enough sleep

This can be REALLY hard to get right when you are a parent. Both children and adults alike very rarely get enough sleep. Whether it’s staying up late to work or little ones hiding under their blankets with a book, it can often be pretty tempting to cut out some hours of sleep to do something else.

However, if you’re not sleeping properly, then your immune system could end up being compromised. This is especially important for children whose immune systems are less developed than yours. You should all be getting the right amount of sleep every night. Things like the washing up can wait until morning!

Of course, even with all of these things, you’re not going to be able to avoid bugs forever, but at the very least you’ll be able to make the gap between illnesses as long as possible so that it doesn’t have too much of a negative impact on yours or your family’s life.
