I’ve always been a fan of supplements and always like to explore the alternative approach to an allergy or condition. I’m also a particular fan of vitamin c and echinacea in the winter months.
Winter is creeping up on us and that often signals the beginning of cold and flu season. For many, the change in season can trigger a downhill spiral, but winter needn’t be the unhealthiest time of year for you and your family. Sometimes all you need is to be pointed in the right direction to get you on the path to a sniffle free winter.
We’ve been trying out Pukka Herbs products to see if they could contribute to our approach to wellness. I’ve been drinking the Elderberry and Echinacea Tea daily and also the Elderberry Syrup, which I have also been giving to the rest of the family.
Days one to five I used a tea bag a day. It is just like drinking a tasty hot juice. I’d prepared myself for much worse to be honest as not all herbal teas taste this good. I reused the tea bag immediately so got a couple of cups out of each bag as it was really good. Day six I didn’t have any, as it was just one of those days when I didn’t have much of anything. Days seven and eight I had a nasty tummy bug and although I did have a cup on day seven it didn’t stay in very long. Not like me at all. I upped the anti on day nine and started drinking the elderberry syrup which I had also been giving to the children as a ‘hot juice’ and relaxing bed time drink.
In all honesty I can’t say I’ve noticed anything dramatic in two weeks, but I’m still a huge fan and more than convinced it can be doing nothing but good in the long run. It isn’t like me to be ill, so I think it was just one of those things.
It has taken me such a long time to learn to like green tea that I didn’t think I would get on very well with this at all, but it is so good, I will certainly be a regular drinker of this from now on and I will keep giving the children the syrup as well, especially during the winter months.
So why Elderberry Syrup?
- Elderberries are effective at maintaining a strong immune system because of the anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties
- Elderberries are jam packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants
- Elderberries can ease flu symptoms like fever, headache, sore throat, fatigue, coughs and body aches
- Pukka’s Elderberry Syrup is naturally sweet, so no more nasty medicinal flavours, which is great for the children too
