Heart melting moments

I’ve talked before on the blog about the feelings of pride you get as a parent, but there are also those incredible heart melting moments that touch you deep inside and remind you how incredibly lucky you are.

Many of these for me have been watching the development of the sibling bond and the love, adoration and protection the children feel for each other.

Every time I overhear one of them say to another “I will always protect you” or “you’ll always have me” I melt inside. The strength of their love for each other is undeniable.

The other wonderful moments are when the children tell me they love me. It is such a lovely affirmation. The big kids have a knack of saying “I love you Mummy” at the end of the most manic of days which makes it even more wonderful to hear.

I tell my children that I love them every single day. It’s something that is very important to me and always especially important if someone has been misbehaving, to remind them that whatever the situation, I love them.

When you hear “I love you” for the first time from your children it is so heart melting. One of our little ones has started saying “I love you” and “I missed you” and I’m sure I glow everytime he says it.  Sometimes he’ll say he missed me when he’s just had a 45 minute sleep!

What melts your heart?

  1. Awww that is lovely. I think what melts my heart is when I get big hugs from my two. Makes the most rubbish of days seem worthwhile and reminds you what is important #binkylinky

  2. When my children tell me something out of the blue like I love that dress you’re wearing you know or actually genuinely thank me for the meal I’ve made!!!!

  3. Ahhh, this is so lovely. For me, our little one has not yet been born so although I hope to have a lifetime ahead of heart melting moments, it’s my husband who is providing those for me at the moment. I LOVE it when he tries to ‘listen’ to the baby by putting his ear to my tummy, or feels a kick, or suggests a future day out that would be good for all three of us to go on when Pickle is here. He’s the most kind-hearted man I’ve ever known, and I only hope our child takes after him!

  4. Aww gorgeous post. I bet the sibling bond is lovely. I have one but hope one day will have two! My daughter says I miss you but she’s 2 so not sure she gets it! Still so cute tho X #binkylinky
