Skincare across the years
How has your skincare routine changed over the years? Personally, when I was a teenager I was really into skincare, but guilty of trying everything going because it was all so exciting. As a young adult I think I narrowed down the products I was using quite a lot, being much more specific about what I was using and why.
As a new mum, well, not just a new mum, for years as a mum of young children it was more a case of skincare routine – what skincare routine? It’s probably only in the last couple of years that I’ve really started paying attention to my skin again and looking after it more.
Everything feels better when my skin feels good though, and I do realise how important that is to how I feel in general.
Where does CBD fit into skincare?
You may well have heard about the use of CBD in skincare, or perhaps even used a CBD product?. What is CBD exactly? CBD (also known as cannabidiol) is the non-intoxicating component of marijuana or hemp plants. No, you can’t get high from using CBD oil!
CBD for skincare has a ton of uses and is thought to be useful for so many skin conditions. With acne-prone skin it is said to calm down inflammation, as well as decrease excess sebum (oil) production, which can lead to breakouts.
It is also thought to lessen the signs of ageing. As it comes from a plant it has antioxidant properties, which means it can help to combat free-radical damage and reduce inflammation too. Of course, it’s not the only skincare product to contain antioxidants, but the more of these we can give our bodies the better!
CBD oil can also be used for skin that has been damaged, or skin that is sensitive. Dry, or cracked skin can be soothed by CBD oil, especially when it is mixed with something rich and nutritious like coconut oil. CBD has been shown to help hugely with things like psoriasis and eczema due to reduction of dryness, irritation and redness that suffers experience.
What are the options
Basically there are tons of CBD beauty products out there, so be careful to do your research before your purchase, and read user reviews of products too.
There are oils, serums, creams, balms and ointments for you to choose from such as the ones found at saltleafhemp.com. You can even get CBD lip balms! You will find the richer balms and creams often recommended for night time use and the lighter serums and oils more for the day time.
You can also get face masks, cleansers and facial washes with CBD in. Again, read the reviews and check what else they are mixed with before you buy. Lots of products seem to say they are CBD without actually containing CBD at all. If a product claims to be a CBD product but only lists “hemp extract” on its ingredient label, it does not technically contain any CBD and that might not be what you are looking for.

Thanks for the great post on CBD skincare options! It’s fascinating to see how CBD is making waves in the skincare industry. For those dealing with skin conditions like psoriasis, understanding the root causes of itching is crucial.
