Learning is fun with the Super Geek Heroes

Who are the Super Geek Heroes?

The SUPER GEEK HEROES are a unique group of super-kids…with the tagline having fun in turn with a mission to learn!

Their seven friendly ‘super-powers’ are derived from the three prime and four specific development areas of the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’.

The development areas and corresponding characters  are:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development – Suzi Smiles
  • Understanding the World – Peter Planet
  • Communication & Language – Vicky Voice
  • Literacy – Jake Jotter
  • Numeracy – Mille Maths
  • Physical Development – Ant Active
  • Creative Arts & Design – Ronnie Rock

What’s special about them?

By introducing “superhero characters” to represent learning and development areas within EYFS, children (and adults) interact more effectively when they understand and relate to their meaning. The use of fun animated 3D characters in this way make children’s learning and development cool, exciting and interesting right through their early years and beyond.

We all want our children to learn, but it will be much more effective if that learning is fun for everyone.

What we think

Straight away the Super Geek Heroes reminded me of a cross between the characters from Super Why and the CBeebies programme Go Jetters. Our children find programmes like this very engaging and they learn a lot. Our two year old knows what the Eiffel Tower and The Empire State Building look like from Go Jetters, so I honestly think that characters like this can be very engaging for children and this type of learning seems highly effective.

The children really like the way they can sound out the names and places with the Super Geek Heroes, as pronunciation can often be something children can find tricky.

If you are teaching your children at home full time, or indeed just trying to get more into their learning time in the evenings or weekends, or perhaps even get your pre-schoolers ‘school ready’ these videos could be really helpful.

There are loads of topics covered, so learning is varied and remains exciting for children. The characters are fun and easy to understand, and the children enjoy identifying their favourites.
