Garden Tools For The Winter Months

I’m laughing at myself as I write this because 20 years ago I would have laughed if you’d told me that I would find gardening deeply satisfying and therapeutic. Back then I just did not comprehend how anyone would find that a fun thing to do. Fast forward and I absolutely love it. Especially in the the winter months!

The garden in the winter needs a lot of TLC. There are leaves to deal with, fallen debris to collect from the high winds we have here this time of year, and it’s a great time to have a good tidy up and trim of all the trees and bushes ready for the spring. For big jobs you may need to look at getting a tree surgeon like those at Thor’s Trees.

Being outside in the garden on a cold day and having a big sort out and then coming inside and lighting the fire with logs collected and dried out from our own garden is pure joy.

If you are gardening in the winter months, whether you are tackling a large space or just trying to keep a small area neat and tidy, there are a few things that can make life much easier.

I’ve linked a few of my favourite useful garden items below, but things like decent waterproof gardening gloves, a good rake, knee pads and a thick garden sac or wheelbarrow (for larger gardens) are really useful.

If you have a big area to cover, you might find something like a garden trolley useful as well, as you can carry an tools you need around and then also use it to collect debris or any cuttings you make along the way.

Gardening is a great way to make sure you get fresh air and it can be quite physical, so it’s also great exercise too – the added bonus is that you’ll also be ticking things off that to-do list by having a good tidy up and refresh of your outside space.
