Valentine’s Day Cookies

Lockdown means I’m maximising the chance to theme activities for the children at the moment. How about you?

Why not keep the kids entertained and have some fun with the Carr’s Kids range of mixes from Carr’s Flour! It couldn’t be simpler to get youngsters involved in the joy of baking. Simple instructions on the back of each packet, means baking with little ones couldn’t be easier.

Perfect for encouraging mini bakers to blossom in the kitchen and keeping those little hands busy, the new range includes a Carr’s Kids Biscuit Mix made with a blend of white and brown flour for added goodness! We’ve been using this mix to make valentines cookies this week and the children were thrilled with the results – evidenced by the fact that they’d eaten them all in two days!

Also included in the new range is Carr’s Kids Bread Mix, which just needs water and a little butter to create a delicious, versatile bread that can be moulded into a family-sized loaf or individual rolls – perfect for hot dogs! We’ve not tried this yet, but the children are looking forward to making their own hot dog rolls.

To accompany the baking mixes, Carr’s Flour are also launching a new Carr’s Kids Collectables range, including cookie cutters, measuring cups, a Carr’s branded mini baking kit complete with a rolling pin, spatula, pastry brush and cutting board and of course, to make sure our mini bakers are taken seriously in the kitchen, a Carr’s branded apron!

All of these are lovely quality and perfect additions to the kitchen for little bakers. We love the heart-shaped cutters, which were ideal for our valentines cookies. These come in other shapes as well. They are perfect for using with the children as they cut really well but they aren’t sharp.

We sandwiched them together with buttercream and the children decorated them with icing pens. I’ve not come across these mixes before but I’m so glad we’ve tried them out. I love having a few quick things like this for baking in the house, so when the children fancy being busy in the kitchen I’m not hunting around for tons of ingredients. These are so simple and require very little adding to them.

Do you do much baking with your children? Have you tried theses mixes before?
