An open letter to Sky

Dear Sky,

I was going to write to you to complain that when I set the Sky planner to record Bob the Builder at 7.20 every morning that it actually records half a rubbish princess programme first and then misses the end of Bob the Builder.

Quite frankly though there are other more pressing things to sort out like the slim line go faster design of your sky+ remote control devices.

To be honest you’ve caused a nightmare in our house. Like many families, the older style remote controls have been a firm favourite in the toy boxes of our children for years. Despite lots of toys to choose from, these have been used (without the batteries) as phones, walkie talkies,  intercoms, microphones  and ‘pretend’ remote controls for years.

The new design however has meant that the youngest member of the family is able to tell which device is the real deal at the age of 12 months. This is not a good thing Sky! I’m all in favour of innovation and product development and all, but think of the millions of parents who are cursing this new direction. If our little man can pick the real remote out of this line up there must be thousands of others just like him that can do as well.

I will be writing a similar letter to Samsung about their Galaxy Note 4 which is the other obsession of the 12 month old, and has been for the last 6 months.

Yours faithfully,

A less than satisfied customer.

  1. All the numbers have worn off our sky+ remote but it makes it quite entertaining watching grandma try to operate it! I think it’s something about channel 5 that means you get loads of the programme before and miss the end of what you want (we get it with Mr Men).

  2. Ha ha! Love this. We have the same problem with our little one, shes known the difference between our old dummy sky remote and the new one. Its problematic to say the least! #ShareWithMe

  3. My son is the same – he knows!! He loves playing with my phone but when we gave him an old, unused mobile he’s not interested. He must have MY phone to slobber over, phone randoms and throw on the floor.
Your son is very clever – I can’t really tell the difference between the three remotes! #FridayFrolics

  4. Its the batteries. you need to put old worn out batteries in or they weigh less!!!! They need to be heavy to feel like the real deal! its a classic issue in this house too. I have about 6 remote controls now and we mix them up a lot. ~fridayfrolics.

  5. Hold up! Hold up! Half a ‘rubbish princess programme’ ?!???? The Little Princess is a shrewd, witty, independent (really independent she’s like six and pretty much does what she wants) little lass. Maybe Sky is trying to broaden your horizons? I mean I love Bob but he’s not exactly charismatic 😉 #bigfatlinky

  6. Hahaha this is brilliant love your letter to sky. My husband might add his anger about the sports channel too. 🙂 Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me #sharewithme
