Back to school during COVID-19: week one

So how is back to school going for you all with this new normal? It certainly feels quite different this year doesn’t it?

Our children are part of a staggered return which makes total sense given what is trying to be achieved here.

This week the little boys were in school Monday and Tuesday, our oldest only on Wednesday, both big kids on Thursday and on Friday all four were in school on the same day for the first time.

Start and finish times have also been different too.

So what was it like?

It’s been a topsy turvy week but the children all seem to have adapted so well to the new normal.

The procedures both schools have in place are excellent and the children feel safe at school. It’s been great for them to get back to seeing their friends and they’ve all had a good week.

Lots of parents at school do not seem to be social distancing on the yard but I guess that is to be expected. Some people follow the rules and others actively choose not to.

Two of the children are also back in the pool, one in swimming club and one swimming lessons. Again, like school the organisation is spot on and the systems work. They are gradually working their way through a huge list of children who were having lessons and giving catch up lessons where parents had overpaid. It must be a nightmare for them to coordinate.

It’s the first full week of school next week so we will see how that goes. How has your back to school gone?
