Do you need a romantic getaway?

Travelling with your family can be a lot of fun and you can make some amazing memories that will last a lifetime. However, some parents do like to get away as a couple, like in the old days before they had kids. If that’s you, here are a few ideas.

Stay In A Fancy Hotel

If you travel on your own or with friends, then you don’t mind too much about the hotel. You’re mainly looking for somewhere cheap that provides decent beds. When travelling with the family it’s often more about how child-friendly it is or where everyone might sleep.

For a romantic getaway, you need to approach it differently. You should be looking for a real classy hotel that’s fit for a couple. Your room needs to be comfortable and spacious, it should encourage you to relax. I’d say it makes more sense to book a budget airline and take a longer/less appealing flight than it does to book a budget hotel. If you want to save money, save it elsewhere, the hotel needs to be perfect.

Book A River Cruise

Try and fly out to a country that has a nice river you can sail down. River cruises are terribly romantic, they can really help the two of you relax and just enjoy each other’s company. As you can see on the Bolsover Cruise Club website, there are plenty of river cruises out there in many countries around Europe and the world.

It gives you something to do for a day and is a great way to really see more of the place you’re visiting. Plus, you can enjoy dinner and a bottle of wine on a lovely boat in the evening sun, on a river, how gorgeous is that?

Watch Every Sunset

If there’s one thing you should do on a romantic getaway, it’s watch the sunset every night. The sunsets abroad are so much better than those back home. I don’t know if that’s a fact or if it just feels that way because you’re on holiday! Either way, it doesn’t get more romantic than watching the sunset with your soulmate every single night.

Go For Long Walks

The great thing about a romantic getaway is that, if you do things right, it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Aside from the river cruise, hotel, flights, and eating out, there’s very little else to pay for. A lot of your enjoyment comes for free. Gong for long walks is a great idea when you’re holidaying as a couple. It gives you time to just be alone together and talk for hours.

You’ve probably not talked properly for years thanks to your busy lives. It’s a chance to just speak to one another properly and deeply for hours on end, how wonderful.
