It occurs to me that manifestos exist in order to keep political parties and other bodies from straying from their initial intentions – a declaration of intentions and motives.
I think motherhood has taught me that it is important to have in the back of your mind the type of parent you are striving to be.
We all have days when we deviate briefly from the plan but in general my Mummy Manifesto is simple:
- Trust your instincts
- Make it up as you go along
- Understand that perfection is not practical…or possible
- Know that the right way is the one that works
- Breathe…deeply
- Ignore 95% of the advice others give you
- Realise that sleep is overrated
- Laugh at yourself
- Savour each moment
- Take LOADS of photos
- Play, love, encourage, cuddle, kiss and tickle
- Repeat

Hey I found your motherhood post! So true. It really is a journey of learning to trust your instincts and appreciate the small things. X
Totally! Just make it up as you go along right? xx
I am definitely making it up as I go along, but hey that’s all part of the journey right?!
Great post, thanks for sharing!

I love your manifesto especially the ignore 95% of advice from others! I have recieved some corkers in my 4 years of being a parent.

Thanks! I can imagine – why do others think they know best?
Great manifesto (although watch out if your kids hold you to them all, everytime)

Thanks Jenny 🙂
Oh this is SO true! Lovely, lovely tips — I think my manifesto is pretty much the same as yours 🙂 Apart from sleep being overrated!! In my manifesto, sleep is a precious commodity and something that I just can’t do without 😉 Thanks for linking up to #TwinklyTuesday x
