We decorate the tree while listening to Dr Demento’s Greatest Christmas Novelty Songs. We know all the words to “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer”, “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” etc., and sing along enthusiastically (possibly helped by a glass or two of mulled wine).

Every Xmas Day morning we always go for a walk through the local woods just to get some fresh air before we enjoy the rest of the day
We have to have new pj’s on Christmas eve, and we like to share this tradition by buying as many pairs of kids pj’s as possible and donating them to organisations who get them to the families who need them

I love buying my son a new decoration (for the tree) each year, when he leaves home he’ll have a box of decorations to decorate his first tree – hopefully he’ll remember all the happy Christmas memories too as he hangs them

I cut out boot-shaped templated and place them on the floor leading from the chimney to under the xmas tree. Then I shake talcum powder round them so it looks like Santa’s snowy boots.
