Living a life ‘free from’ something isn’t always straight forward. Whether it is free from wheat, gluten, dairy, sugar, egg, nuts, all of these things, or something else entirely it can sometimes be a bore.
Each year for the last 12 years since I had to stop eating wheat I have gradually watched things improve, in terms of what products are available.
Many free from products are still very expensive and that is the main area I would like to see improvements going forward. The other area I feel that needs improvement are the range of options available when eating out. This has improved over the years and some places are fantastic, but there is a long way to go.
In terms of the range of products available to buy now though, there has been considerable progress, which is wonderful to see.
One recent progression is the expansion by Holland and Barrett to have a section of their website dedicated to ‘FREE FROM‘ products. This is really jam-packed full of all sorts of products, some of which I have never seen before. It is great to have more choice.
I loved the store before this but now my interest has increased.
They stock a huge range of products including: pasta; rice; tea; chocolate; crackers; noodles; cakes; biscuits; bake at home mixes; breads; honey; spread; sweets; cereals and much more.
Do you live ‘free from’ a particular food? What do you find most difficult about your diet and which brands do you like the most?
