have lots of activities to keep children entertained
Keep revisiting places that are free that the children have enjoyed to help keep costs down
Be prepared but flexible too!
Get lots of playdates in place!
Get other parents involved – take in turns to amuse the kids
Get out as much as you can. We love Geocaching
be out and about as much as possible
Take walks to the local parks and take scooters and bicycles out for rides as often as possible for as long as possible.
We spent a lot of time at fun free events in the libraries, IKEA and Pets at Home.
Look out for attractions that let you in free for the rest of the season. Also pack refreshments.
Make use of local facilities, we are near the coast so get out to the beach as much as possible, visit local parks and have picnic
get the children involved with their ideas
Send the kids off to the grandparents!
A balance between helping with chores or every day tasks and playing. We can have a treat if we do this task.
Try and get out the house as much as possible. Even if it’s just for a walk down the street. My children will always find something to do which will lead to other things and that keeps us busy!
Dont put too much pressure on yourself to do everthing!
Preparation is key! I try and have lots of rainy day activities planned and cheap days out to keep them entertained 🙂
Create a list of free things you can take your kids to during the holidays before the holidays comes. There are usually websites that list stuff for kids. In London we have Timeout, Londonist and our own borough’s website. That way you won’t be in a last minute panic of what to do.
Patience and keeping them entertained
You haven’t got to be on the go all the time take some time out and have chill time .
Making plans, to keep them busy / distracted
dont put too much pressure on yourself! not everything has to cost money
We are lucky enough to live near the beach so we spent a lot of time there and I just had to keep saying no to icecreams constantly and take our own picnic down there. i did treat with ice creams sometimes but that gets costly too!
Buy lots of food and food to keep summer moving smoother in the hot summer weather and have lots of days out planned.

Take advantage of outdoor space as much as possible
Plan a trip out for at least 2 of the days a week doesn’t have to be anywhere too expensive even just a fun woodland walk, and hen 2 days at home chilling out.
Spend as much time outside as possible.
If you’ve got a garden use it, lunch is much more exciting if it’s a picnic in the garden, make a tent, stargaze, toast marshmallows, plant things and watch them grow, make bird & insect feeders. Low cost and you didn’t have to go anywhere.
Spend lots of time outside and long walks 🙂
Get outdoors as much as you can!
