The best STEM toys for 2021

What are STEM toys?

STEM toys are a wonderful educational resource and something I have used a lot with my younger two children this year in particular, with so much time home schooling.

STEM toys promote logic, collaboration, problem-solving, and creative skills. Smart construction kits like the Solar Robot and Quad Bike enhance the imagination and motor skills of children. They improve fine motor skills, enhance memory and concentration skills, and encourage children to learn how to follow instructions.

What we’ve been testing this week

With yet another week of home school this week, it has been the perfect time to begin a new STEM set with the boys. They’ve enjoyed building this Quad Bike.

This is currently available for £15.99, which represents wonderful value for money.

With this kit you can build your own pull-back quad bike. This kit is designed to improve fine motor skills, enhance memory and concentration skills, and encourage children to learn how to follow instructions.

What the boys thought

The boys loved this kit and enjoyed putting it together. We were all a bit confused about why it’s called a Quad Bike and only has three wheels – anyone know the answer to that?

This held their attention for a couple of hours as they put it together. The fact that it pulls back and travels across the floor so fast was a bonus of course!

In addition to this three-wheeled ‘quad’ bike Toys and Bears stock tons of other STEM toys such as: I’m A Genius Space Gravity £19.99 – Discover the science behind gravity by creating marble runs and other experiments using the theory of gravity; Hi Tech Science – 13 Models Solar Energy Robot £17.99 – Fantastic kit to make 13 model robots powered by solar energy and Flying Science £22.99 – Model aeroplane and kite, includes 5 experiments to discover the principles of lift and flight.
