Why La Plagne is Fantastic for a family skiing holiday

If you’re planning a family skiing holiday, La Plagne is a fantastic destination to consider. This French ski resort offers a range of activities and amenities that make it an ideal destination for families. In this blog post, I will explore why La Plagne is fantastic for a family skiing holiday. We LOVE it – I’ve been going there since the age of 10, and it’s one of my favourite places in the world.

Varied ski terrain

La Plagne is one of the largest ski resorts in Europe, with over 225 km of ski runs and 130 pistes. This makes it an ideal destination for families with skiers of all abilities. There are plenty of gentle green and blue runs for beginners and intermediate skiers, as well as more challenging red and black runs for advanced skiers.

Family-friendly facilities

La Plagne has a range of family-friendly facilities that make it an ideal destination for families. The resort offers childcare services for children from 3 months to 12 years old, so parents can enjoy some time on the slopes while their children are looked after by trained professionals. The resort also offers a range of activities for families, such as ice-skating, sledging, and snowshoeing. There are several snow parks, where children can enjoy skiing through tunnels, over jumps and other obstacles.

Excellent ski schools

La Plagne has a number of excellent ski schools that cater to children of all ages and abilities. These ski schools employ highly trained instructors who specialise in teaching children how to ski, and offer a range of lessons and programs to suit different age groups and skill levels. These days, we prefer private instructors for our children as we find it advances their skiing much faster. Most recently we’ve used New Generation and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Family-friendly accommodation

La Plagne offers a range of family-friendly accommodation options, from self-catering apartments to luxury chalets. Many of these accommodations are located right on the slopes, making it easy for families to access the ski runs and facilities. There is tons of ski in/ski out accommodation, which is much easier with children in tow.

Apres-ski activities

La Plagne has a range of apres-ski activities that are perfect for families. There are a number of restaurants, bars, and cafes that offer family-friendly menus and entertainment, as well as indoor swimming pools, cinemas, and bowling alleys.

Final Thoughts

La Plagne is a fantastic destination for a family skiing holiday. With its varied ski terrain, family-friendly facilities, excellent ski schools, family-friendly accommodation, and apres-ski activities, it offers everything that families need to enjoy a fun and memorable skiing holiday together. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skier, La Plagne has something for everyone.
