The Motherload is none of those things you read about in your baby book or you Prima Baby Magazine (anyone else?), it’s nothing you could have especially been prepared for, and it’s not something that magically vanishes as your children grow up – if anything, it accelerates and becomes even more weighty.

Whilst in Winnipeg, we also visited Assiniboine Zoo.
One of the stops we made during our Trans-Canadian road trip was Thunder Bay, driving from Wawa the previous day, which was around 5h15 in total. We broke this up with lots of interesting stops along the way, a couple of which are included here.
After leaving the humidity of Niagara Falls, where we had felt as if we were melting, we drove a couple of hours to Barrie in Ontario, where we made a very welcome stop off at Splash ON.
Toronto seemed like a really family-friendly city from what we could tell. Although busy, it was not the shoulder to shoulder busy that you find in so many cities around the world. It felt safe, people were friendly, there was lots of inner city parking available and once in the city it was easy to navigate.
