This bizarre mixed back of weather makes the ‘summer wardrobe’ a little redundant don’t you think? I carefully vac sacked the winter clothes away, after our Spring heatwave, then instantly regretted it and now, well now I don’t have a clue what to put on. I loathe the feeling of sticking, moist skin.
Where did crop tops come from? Apparently, in 1893, belly dancers gave a performance at the World’s Fair in Chicago, introducing the concept of the crop top to the western world. From here the crop top began to gain prominence in the 1940s during the fabric rationing of World War II. However, this was largely related to swimwear at the time.
COVID-19 has rocked the world in many ways. How has it altered how you deal with the day-to-day? Are you a front-line worker who strips off the moment you walk through your door, so you can wash off the day and minimise the risk to your family? As restrictions have eased this week I’ve seen images and comments from so many people online who are thrilled that certain shops have opened back up.
As a child I had plenty of all-in-ones, you know the kind of shorts and top play suit type things that are ideal for the beach? Anyone else have these? I don’t feel like these ever disappeared really, as I also bought these for my daughter when she was little and friends now with young daughters do the same. They are so practical for the summer, for playing, time outside, on the beach etc and they look super cute too.
When we think of summer essentials, we perhaps think of the things we take on holiday with us. All the classic bits and bobs we pack in our suitcases prior to that wonderful summer sun holiday – sadly, due to the ‘minor issue’ of a global pandemic it’s very unlikely that anyone will be travelling anywhere this summer. So how might your lockdown summer wardrobe differ?
