Where did crop tops come from? Apparently, in 1893, belly dancers gave a performance at the World’s Fair in Chicago, introducing the concept of the crop top to the western world. From here the crop top began to gain prominence in the 1940s during the fabric rationing of World War II. However, this was largely related to swimwear at the time.

This is week seven of lockdown, week eight in some places and longer if you were self isolating before the enforced lockdown. We need to keep reminding ourselves, we are safe at home, not stuck at home.
It is possible to match a good pair of jeans with almost any top. The trick is to match the style of jeans to the occasion and to the style of the top. A formal occasion is not the place to wear distressed jeans but there are dark wash jeans and others that have a more formal look. Having a collection of jeans in different styles to suit many occasions is the way to go.
Whilst working from home with four children here is a challenge, there are currently no school runs and no club runs, so there is much less running around than a normal week. This means lounge wear is perfectly reasonable!
I really do need to get better at mix and match outfits. I like the idea of being able to pair a few things together to create several different outfits. The reality is I often end up with things I end up not wearing because I don’t have the right shoes or a top to go with whatever it is. Things end up staying in the wardrobe because I cant pair them with anything.
Wardrobes can be a nightmare to keep tidy can’t they? They don’t seem to take long to get in a complete state if you don’t have a system. Are you a systems person when it comes to your wardrobe, or a bit more haphazard in your approach?
The midi dress. I don’t recall really being aware of these when I was a teen. Maybe it’s because we were all about minis back then that I’d never have given the midi dress the time of day, or maybe they weren’t such a thing?
